Heading for the East - Aperam South America is the official supplier of the Schurmann Family’s “Oriente” Expedition
The sailboat to be used on the trip incorporated close to 19 tons of stainless steel, used on the deck, motor shaft, rudder, protection bars around the boat. Captain Vilfredo Schurmann, his wife Heloisa and family will explore seas and oceans following the Chinese route which, according to theories, were the first navigators to go around the world.
The expedition will involve innovation, technology and sustainability. That is why Aperam was chosen as a supplier, since stainless steel is infinitely recyclable and ecological par excellence. Another factor that influenced the choice of Aperam is the fact that the company contributes to the conservation of non-renewable resources, as it uses only charcoal as a reducer in its blast furnaces. Charcoal from eucalyptus forests planted from its subsidiary Aperam BioEnergia, located in Jequitinhonha Valley in the Minas Gerais State.
"Stainless steel is the best choice for projects that seek the balance between man and his surroundings, combining technical performance with aesthetics," says Frederico Ayres, commercial director of Aperam South America. "In addition to easy maintenance, it is very resistant to corrosion and other damages. We are proud to participate in the Oriente Expedition”, concludes Frederico.
